Overlooking the ocean, a large pool with a spacious sundeck and lounge chairs provides an alternative to the pretty swimming-and-snorkeling beach, which includes an enclosed cove of water calm enough for toddlers.

Decor varies among units, but all accommodations offer cable TV and VCRs, CD players, and washer/dryers. Ceiling fans are found in each unit as well. Views are of the resort’s landscaped grounds or a Pacific Ocean beach. Kitchens come complete with dishwashers, stove tops and ovens, microwaves, refrigerators, coffeemakers, cookware, and tableware.

Neatly trimmed lawns, tall coconut trees, natural ocean plants, and sweeping water views suspend guests in tropical pleasure. Amenity highlights: Barbecue grills by the pool and dining tables and chairs on the sundeck permit oceanside dining. For exercise, there's a lighted tennis court at the back of the property. Insider tip: Next to the beach, a 500-year-old site sacred to native Hawaiians called Kukui Heiau occupies a raised platform of ground with a perfect ocean view. The resort's name, lae nani ("beautiful point of land"), derives from the site.

Comprising 84 units in five three-story wood buildings and including a large oceanfront pool surrounded by a spacious sundeck and a broad sunning lawn, Lae Nani provides guests plenty of space for privacy, rest, and relaxation. Outside staircases, not elevators, provide access to upper floors.
